A Clean Bright Future is Now!

I read about compressed air powered cars about 7 or 8 years ago in an issue of Popular Mechanics, or Science magazine. I thought then, as I think now, this is the greatest idea to ever hit the automobile industry! I knew the research and development of this fantastic idea was happening in France. And I have wondered all the years since reading that article why the good old US of A wasn't following suit with this type of development.

Motor Development International is the name of the French company doing this wonderful work! They displayed their OneFlowAIR car at the 2008 New York Car Show in March of '08. And I didn't hear a word about it! I can't imagine why! This engineering is revolutionary!

Countries all over the world are getting on board with these wonderful cars, which add zero pollutants to the environment! They simply let out cold air! How refreshing would that be on a hot summer's day?

License agreements for fabrication and distribution, have been signed in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, New Zealand, Israel and South Africa. And thankfully Zero Pollution Motors would like to make MDI vehicles in the United States. I personally can't wait! Bring on the air cars!

MDI Energy, a Company With Solutions!

We live in a age where petroleum use has enslaved us as a society. The realities of this age are starting to sink in and shake us up. The B.P. oil disaster is still all too fresh in our collelctive memory. Gas prices are hitting record highs. Business as usual is fast becoming unworkable. And in the words of Matthew Simmons, world leading oil industry investment banker, “...the world does not have a Plan B". Well, now we do!

We just have to acknowledge that to get to the huge amounts of wasted energy avaiable to us, means the adoption of a decentralised networked technology package that can match what we're used to, and apply it!

Enter the Air Car!

An Air Car motor. Looks alot like what we're used to!

Combustion Engines Need Air Too!

A combustion engine also has to have air to run.  Older model cars have "breathers", and every car has "intake" and "exhaust" systems.  Combustion can not take place without air!  When you think about the gas you "burn" in your car... that's exactly what you're doing.  Burning!  Without air, there is no burn.  No motion.  You can't get anywhere.

But with the Air Car, you burn NOTHING!  And you still get where you want to go!  These cars are good for up to 200 miles without a refill of compressed air, and hit speeds up to 60 mph!  That's pretty darn good considering no holes were dug in the ground to get the power for these cars.  No fish died. No-one lost a limb or a life in a freak accident to get the energy source.  And designs are being hammered out that will allow these cars to perpetually refill themselves!

Very nice!

An Eye On the Future!

I want to drive this kind of car! But beyond that, for anyone looking for investment opportunities... I believe this is the way of the future. I hope to be first in line when an air car dealership opens somewhere near me!

If we wait it out, keep driving combustion engine vehicles, and watch from the sidelines as the rest of the world out steps us in clear air and cheap, sound transportation, we will be singing a sad tune in the long run! If we invest in this technology now we will be laughing all the way to the bank in the future! In my humble opinion.

I love this planet. Earth... my home. And I know there are ways to end what we are doing that is making Earth sick.

I stood on the beach at Santa Monica once, looking out over the Pacific Ocean. The sky above me looked green. I estimate the blue sky wasn't apparent for at least 3 to 5 miles out. Imagine how much cleaner the sky around L.A. and other congested areas would be with the same amount of people tooling around the freeways in air cars!

I believe this technology will become standard in the years to come. How can it not? We are at a dawning. And I choose to embrace the dawning, rather than be consumed by the reckoning we will face if we keep on our current path.

tedcampbell2792, Thank you so much! I think I would compeletly LOVE driving this kind of car. I have always been a "car nut", and for me, this is just a perfect way to go! (No pun intended!) I hope soon we will be seeing them everywhere!

Earth is my favorite planet as well! ... Great looking vehicles and great new technology too. Cheers!

Sorry, this technology is a farce.

What is obvious is that it will hardly drag itself along, let alone carry the weight of more than one person at about 30klp max and for a distance of less than 3 kilometers. The hype is one thing, the truth another. (See the tests run.)

The problem with this technology is obvious, and it will never see the light of day. How many years have they been promising this car? It is a no show for a good reason. It tries to defy the first law of thermodynamics.

Simply will not work now, or at any time in the future.

earnestshub, I agree that compressed air automotion has been unsuccessfully around for a very long time, but the MDI air car is different.

So that adequate air pressure can be maintained to push the car at good speeds, instead of a continuous slow push, as with a larger cylinder in earlier designs, a secondary, smaller cylinder is now used to build pressure.

As the smaller piston collects the air and moves downward on its stroke the “articulated con-rod” lets this smaller piston rotate its rod on the crankshaft while allowing the main piston to be held at top dead center 70% of the time, until this smaller piston reaches the bottom of its stroke. Then the blast of air is delivered, driving the main piston down.

Also with the gear box, the computer-controlled automatic transmission is an in-house design that constantly monitors the speed of the car and shifts with only a small loss of energy.

Also installed in these cars is a moto-alternator that provides EXTRA POWER when needed and helps the car's motor to allow the tanks to be refilled.

As with any cutting edge technologly these cars have seen their share of pitfalls along with successes. But after 14 years of design and development, these cars are amazing!

Since right now there are 50 factories across Europe to produce the MDI cars waiting to go... these cars are coming! And personally I can't wait.

As always thank you for your interest, and your comment!

RA don't you just love those Popular Science "What's New" articles....I am delighted you made me aware of the air car. I did a little search and there isn't a lot of very recent news and the Zero Pollution American one seems to be extending its launch dates. I would love to see a car propelled by air. If they can't get the supply of compressed air cheaply enough, they can always enlist Congress--those guys have enough hot air to supply the whole country. =:)

Wonderful concept. But unfortunately we will never see these, or any other environmentally friendly thing, in this country, until every last dollar is sucked out of the american people by the Big Oil industries and their sidekicks in Washington, D.C. Sad, but true. Everything here is dictated by "profits" alone. Everything else is secondary to corporate america.

This concept is utterly amazing. I wonder about how the air compression mechanisms needed to recharge the car work. I can't wait to see it come to America.
